This month Yuken Europe featured in the Mersey Maritime’s monthly magazine as Member of the Month. We were delighted as we work with many maritime customers including The Steam Packet Company and Merseytravel who operate the famous Mersey Ferry.
Mannie Saunders, Managing Director of Yuken Europe speaks to Mersey Maritime about the company and some of the challenges we face but also the positives that have come from this.
How well did you adapt to COVID-19?
We faced similar challenges to many other businesses. Some staff were able to work from home but, of course, that wasn’t possible for those involved in the building, testing and distribution of our systems and products.
Keeping our team safe was the most important thing and we acted swiftly to implement measures to minimise the risk of spreading COVID. Business did dip for two or three months but after that it returned to a good level.
We have products that compact waste products for recycling (food, metal, plastic and cardboard) and reduce storage issues for a variety of businesses. Yuken prides itself on building systems and machines that last a long time and offer a service to maintain the systems for our customers to ensure longevity. We are also in the process of installing solar panels on our roof to show our own commitment to moving to a cleaner energy source.
What are your plans for the next six to 12 months?
Despite the challenges we are still ambitious to keep growing the business within Liverpool and the UK, Middle East and Africa. We have just employed more team members and we show support to our local communities in Liverpool.
We have some great projects that we are working on with high profile clients too, so we will be making sure to share these stories on our website and social media platforms.
